Western  Railway  invites  applications  from  eligible  bonafide  citizens  of  India  and  from  such other persons  declared  eligible by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in prescribed  format only. Further details are given below :

Name of the Post : Group D (Various Trade)

Total Posts : 2249 (UR -  1136 ;   OBC -  608 ;  SC -  341 ;  ST -  164)

Pay Scale : Rs.5200 – 20200/- + GP Rs.1800/-

Details of Posts :

1. Gangman/ Trackman - 590 Posts ( UR – 298 ; OBC – 159 ; SC – 89 ; ST – 44)

2. Helper (Elect.,Mechancial,Engg and S&T) - 963 (UR – 489 ; OBC – 258 ; SC – 147 ; ST – 69)

3. Helper (Stores) - 27 Posts (UR – 14 ; OBC – 06 ; SC – 04 ; ST – 03)

4. Platform Porter - 238 Posts ( UR – 119 ; OBC – 65 ; SC – 36 ; ST – 18)

5. Safaiwala (Medical/Mech/Commercial) - 30 Posts (UR – 15 ; OBC – 08 ; SC – 06 ; ST – 01)

6. Waiter & Cleaner (Commercial Catering) - 56 Posts (UR – 29 ; OBC – 15 ; SC – 08 ; SC – 04)

Educational Qualification : 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent. Candidates who are appearing  at  and/or  awaiting  results  of  final  examination  of  class 10th  on the last  date of downloading  of  application  are  not eligible to apply.  Academic  qualification must  be  from  a  recognized  Educational  Institution  /  Board/University,  otherwise  candidature  shall  be  rejected.  Candidates  having  higher  educational  qualification may also apply.

Age Limit : 18 – 33 years as on 01.01.2013 (Relaxation : SC/ST – 5 yrs ; OBC – 3 yrs)

Selection Procedure : Candidates would be required to appear for written examination (objective  type multiple choice  questions) on a common date to be announced later by Ministry of Railways. They would be required to qualify  Physical Efficiency Test (PET)  and  Medical Examination  also, to  be  announced  later  after  successful  conduct of written  examination.  Final  recruitment  panel will be based on candidates  qualifying  the  written examination,  physical  efficiency  test,  medical  examination  and  document  verification.

Syllabus for Examination : Question  paper  for  the  Written  Test  shall  be  of  Class  10th standard,  consisting  of  150 multiple‐choice  (four)  objective  type  questions,  mainly  aimed  to  assess  general  knowledge  / awareness,  mathematics, general  science  and reasoning etc. Question paper  shall  be printed  in  Hindi,  English,  Urdu,  Marathi  and  Gujarati  only.  The  duration  of  Written  Test  shall  be  2 (two) hours. Negative marking shall  prevail.

Examination fee : Rs.40/- For General and OBC Candidates (NO Fee for SC/ST/Women/PH/minorities  and  economically  backward  classes  having  income  less  than Rs  50,000/‐  p.a) – Fee Payment has to be made only in State Bank of India Branches using specific challan for the purpose.
